Our currency is backed with a promise, as in promissory notes. That is why it says \"In God we trust\" on every piece of currency. Trust us, trust God. This money is backed by God's trust because we printed it so you should believe us. It's all about a faith-based economy. He who believeth in us shall have everlasting debt. In all seriousness, I doubt if there's enough gold in the world to back all the money we printed with a promise. We operate on IOUs. This dollar is worth a dollar because our government says so.
