The problem is no one wants to pay for it, pay taxes for it, and no politicians actually prioritize funding public education, but we all want to complain about how bad it is. Yes, you have to fund it, you have to throw money at it. It's how the world works.

Poverty has a lot to do with it.
No, Republican governors caused the failure of American education by under-funding education. They all campaign on promising to fix educaton and increase funding, but it never happens. What usually happens is educaton gets cut from state budgets even more.
